Why can't I find my EC2 instance I launched?

 

ANSWER: you may not be looking in the right geographic region:

 

Example: I have an instance that was launch on US East but, my console is set to US West

 

The FIX: switch to the correct region you launched it in (here I switch it to US East and now see it)
